Dr. Lowell (as many patients call him) was born in Park Rapids, MN and always had an interest in Sports Medicine, Geriatrics and Health and Wellness. After graduating from Northwestern College of Chiropractic, now known as Northwestern Health Sciences, he became the founder of First Chiropractic which was established in 1984. Dr. Lowell Magelssen has enjoyed being a part of the community and surrounding area ever since. He is in the heart of Shoreview, MN, on the corner of Highway 96 and Lexington, in the Shoreview Village Mall. Dr. Magelssen is committed to something much more significant than just pain relief. He has dedicated his career to finding the best ways to utilize the natural healing power of Chiropractic Care to provide his patients with a lifetime of optimum health.

In conjunction with Chiropractic care, in our Rehabilitation area, Dr. Magelssen works with patient’s injuries every day. For forty plus years of helping patients get back to their everyday activities. He specializes in Auto and Work Comp injuries, injuries from falls, and sports injuries in all age groups. Neuropathy Program
Dr. Magelssen treats many patients in our Neuropathy Program that is specifically tailored for your condition. Our program works by addressing the underlying causes of Peripheral Neuropathy (blood ischemia and hypoxia) and not just masking the symptoms with drugs/medication. Therapies
For specialized, individual patient treatment plans, we use specific therapies for your condition. For example, this form of therapy (EMS) uses 2-4 sticky pads on an area of soft tissue, usually muscles, to help with pain management by sending a small amount of electrical current to the tissue underneath the skin. This gentle current level is controlled by you and is easily adjusted up or down during your therapy which usually lasts 10-15 minutes. This electrical current can help reduce spasms, swelling, and inflammation.
